Westmont Electric Aggregation
Saves Money For Residents
RESIDENTS MAY OPT OUT OF COST-SAVINGS PROGRAM BY JULY 27

Village of Westmont
Date Issued: July 6, 2012

PRESS RELEASE

Beginning the week of July 9, residents should receive a letter from FirstEnergy Solutions regarding the Electric Aggregation Program that has been approved by the Village of Westmont. The Electric Aggregation Program, which also include the Village of Downers Grove, allows your municipality to negotiate electric supply rates on behalf of the community in order to save money for residents.

In June, the Villages of Westmont and Downers Grove selected FirstEnergy Solutions to be the electric provider for the Village of Westmont. FirstEnergy Solutions is one of the largest electricity suppliers in the nation. FirstEnergy Solutions’ electricity rate is 4.75 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). This is a significant savings compared to ComEd’s current average rate of 7.534 cents for kWh.

ENROLLMENT TO RECEIVE THESE COST SAVINGS IS AUTOMATIC.

THERE IS NO SWITCHING FEE.

TO PARTICIPATE AND RECEIVE THESE COST SAVINGS, RESIDENTS DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING.

Participants will continue to receive their bills from ComEd as they will continue to provide electric distribution. The cost savings will be listed under the Electricity Generation portion of your bill. It is estimated that most households will save hundreds of dollars each year by participation in this program.

Participation in this cost-savings program is not mandatory. If residents choose to not receive the cost-savings benefit of this program and would like to continue receiving their electric supply from ComEd or a different supply vendor, they may do so. An “Opt Out” form has been sent to all Westmont residents. The deadline to opt out of the Westmont Electricity Aggregation Program is July 27, 2012.

Additionally, residents should be aware that various electricity suppliers may contact you to solicit their services. The official “Opt-out” letter sent by the Village of Westmont will be on Westmont letterhead. Once again, residents do not need to do anything to participate in the cost-savings plan that has been approved by the Village of Westmont utilizing FirstEnergy Solutions as the electricity supply company.

If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact FirstEnergy Solutions toll-free at 1-866-636-3749, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., CST.
