Date Issued: October, 10, 2019
Today, October 10, 2019, the VIllage of Westmont and Westmont Sister City Program recognize “Double Ten”, Taiwan’s National Day.
“This past weekend, we celebrated Taiwan’s National Day by participating in several events,” said Mayor Ron Gunter. “On Saturday, a group of performers from Taiwan came to town and performed at the Westmont High School. It was an amazing performance. We are so fortunate to have this relationship with the Taiwanese community, which creates so many opportunities.”
The Village of Westmont entered into a formal sister city relationship with Hsinchu County, Taiwan on August 14, 2017. The relationship strives to build ties between the communities in four areas: Municipal, Economic Development, Cultural, and Educational.
Over the past several years, the Village of Westmont has grown its relationship with the Taiwanese community, both locally and abroad. This relationship has brought numerous opportunities to the community including international cultural performances, the creation of a student exchange program, and various opportunities with economic development.
