Awards & Recognition
The Village of Westmont regularly receives two annual awards from the Government Finance Officers’ Association (GFOA), a nonprofit professional association serving over 17,000 government professionals.

Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Village of Westmont has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting several times. The Village first received this award for the Fiscal Year 2004, and since that time has maintained its commitment to excellence in financial reporting and continued to receive awards. The Village is an ongoing participant of the program. It has received the award for its most recently evaluated fiscal year, and expects to continue to receive the award in the future.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the Village. In order to receive the award, the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is reviewed by an impartial panel to verify that it meets Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as the additional high standards of the Certificate of Achievement program. These high standards include a spirit of “full disclosure” so that the CAFR clearly communicates it's financial story.

Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The Village of Westmont has received the Distinguished Budget Award several times. The Village first received this award for Fiscal Year 2000, and since that time has maintained its commitment to excellence in budgeting, and has continued to receive awards. The Village is an ongoing participant of the program. It has received the award for its most recently evaluated fiscal year, and expects to continue to receive the award in the future.

Distinguished Budget Presentation Award represents a significant achievement and reflects the Village’s commitment to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting. In order to receive the award, the Village has to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:
  • a policy document
  • a financial plan
  • an operations guide
  • a communications device
